Repiping House California Apartment Building Repipe

Repiping House California

What Happens
Your tenants are complaining of low water pressure and being scalded in the shower. They have rust in their water. A small leak develops in one of the units. The tenant notices it before mold sets in. Your maintenance man fixes it. Then there is another leak in the same unit that causes damage. The maintenance man fixes the new leak and repairs the damage. He tells you that you should think about having the building repiped. You know there’s a problem but it just seems to be in that one unit. You hope that nothing else bad happens but you know that a small leak in the walls over a long time will cause a toxic mold problem and huge liability issues. You have an uncomfortable feeling that your building is at risk of extensive water damages from a severe leak.

Eventually the pipes in an apartment building deteriorate to the point where the original water pipes need to be replaced. The system ages, and rust and corrosion build up inside the pipes. Pressure falls off and tenants start getting rust particles in their water. The pipes start to leak. Then they fail. Then a catastrophic pipe failure in a wall or under a sink causes tens of thousands of dollars in water damage to the floors, walls and personal property. A small leak undetected over a long period of time causes mold problems. A tenant or tenant’s child, sick from toxic mold, is a massive liability issue.

The Solution

A new copper piping system will not rust. It will not develop the problems of galvanized pipes. The best solution is to repipe the entire apartment building and not try to do one unit at a time. When repairs are made on a case-by-case basis, or repipes are done one unit at a time, the cost is much higher than it would be to repipe the entire building at one time. Doing the repipe all at once eliminates the ever-present risk of tremendously expensive flooding caused by a leak. A new copper system eliminates all of these problems and provides great water pressure throughout your building. Even delivery of hot water is improved.
